Light On The Water

Playing beach volleyball with the team from Rokkaku left more of a mark than Takashi was expecting it too. Sand and wind and sun had kissed the skin over his cheeks and across the bridge of his nose into a sore pink that was tight but not a true sunburn. Despite brushing teeth six or seven times the taste of sardine water still coated the back of his throat in-between swallows, and there was sand in his hair.

Laying on his bed with his eyes closed, Takashi let the day play out again on the backs of his eyelids like a slideshow. The Silver Seat pair defeating all that stood against them. Inui getting exactly what he deserved after months of strange drinks. The dazzle of the sunlight on the sand and the waves as they came in, and Fuji.

Fuji in the air spiking a perfect set from Saeki. Fuji laughing and easy while he relaxed on the sand. Fuji with his head back, standing hip deep in the waves and washed in the same dazzle of sunlight.

Takashi rubbed a palm over his hair and curled up on his side under the covers. He could feel sand in the curves of his ears and as he dropped into sleep it sounded like waves.
